Flu Vaccine

The new annual flu vaccine will be available in the surgery for 2016/2017 this September.

Seasonal influenza vaccine should be given for all patients >65 years, pregnant women, healthcare workers, residents of nursing homes, carers and the following at-risk groups:

Chronic heart disease including acute coronoary syndrome
Chronic liver disease
Chronic neurological disease including multiple sclerosis
Chronic respiratory disease including COPD, cystic fibrosis, asthma.
Diabetes Mellitus
Down Syndrome
Immunosuppression due to disease or treatment eg. steroid medications
Morbid obesity

Children >6 months with:
Moderate to severe neurodevelopmental disorders eg. cerebral palsy and intellectual disability
On long-term aspirin therapy
any condition that can affect respiratory function eg cognitive dysfunction, spinal cord injury, seizure disorder, or other neuromuscular disorder

If you or your child fall into any of the above categories, please contact the surgery in September/October to get your flu vaccine!
